Effective Field Theory and the Nuclear Many-Body Problem

We discuss recent progress in studying the nuclear many-body problem in the context of effective field theories of the nucleon-nucleon interaction. We focus, in particular, on low density systems in the limit of a very large scattering length. We present various analytical approaches such as the large $N$ and large $d$ expansion, as well as epsilon expansions around $d=2+\epsilon$ and $d=4-\epsilon$ spatial dimensions.
