Probing the Equation of State of Dense Neutron-Rich Matter
with High Energy Radioactive Beams at RIA
The equation of state (EOS) of dense neutron-rich matter is poorly known
theoretically and yet it has very important astrophysical implications.
In particular, the high density behavior of nuclear symmetry energy is
rather diverse based on predictions of various many-body theories.
Central collisions induced by high energy radioactive beams at RIA
provide a unique opportunity to explore the EOS and novel properties of
dense neutron-rich matter. In this talk I shall discuss recent progress
in developing an advanced transport model linking many-body theoretical
predictions on the EOS of neutron-rich matter with experimental data at
radioactive beam facilities. The emphasis will be on identifying
experimental observables that are sensitive to the high density behavior
of nuclear symmetry energy.
