Modified Gravity as a Possible Approach to the Missing Mass Problem
Argonne Physics Division Colloquium - 26 Apr 2013
11:00 AM, Building 203 auditorium

An enormous variety of astronomical observations indicate the presence of mass discrepancies in the universe, ranging from individual galaxies to the entire cosmos. The usual interpretation of this evidence is that the universe is filled with some as yet unidentified form of non-baryonic cold dark matter. I will discuss this hypothesis and also the possibility that a modification of gravity is instead to blame.
