Theory Institute Information
Workshop on Hadron Systems at High Density
and/or High Temperature
Physics Division, Argonne National Laboratory
August 4 - 8, 1997
Lectures will be held in Conference Room R150
on the Ground Floor of the Physics Bulding (203)
- Monday : It is recommended that Participants arrive at
Bldg. 203 at 08:30. There will be a registration desk inside the building.
Registration formalities should be completed and then people can have a
casual, light breakfast in the Auditorium Lounge. The first session will
begin at 09:00 with a welcome by the Division Director, Walter Henning.
- Wednesday: A workshop dinner will be held at the Grand Mandarin
restaurant in Naperville. Directions will be provided. The dinner will
cost $20 (at registration) plus drinks (at time of consumption).
- Friday: The meeting will close at 17:30 on Friday.
- Talks: The schedule allows for presentations of
40 minutes with an additional 20 minutes for discussion; i.e., presentation
time will be 40+20=60 minutes.
- Weather: It is unpredictable with the average not being truly
relevant. One can expect to have generally warm conditions: 15-20C overnight
and approximately 27C during the day. All rooms are air-conditioned, which
means that one might need a jumper (pullover/sweater) inside the building.
An umbrella is useful - one often has thunderstorms at this time of year.
The 6-day forecast is available
here.
- Travel to and from ANL : We will meet at the front desk of
the Budgetel Inn at 8:00 the first day to sort out transportation to the
Physics Building. It is expected that a number of participants will have
rental cars and will be able to provide rides to others. This shuttle
arrangement has proven to be the simplest means of getting to and from ANL
in the past.
- Directions to ANL
- I-55, travelling south
- Exit 273-A, South Cass Avenue
- Approx. 1.5 km, Entrance to ANL (Northgate Road)
- A map is available
here.
- Directions to Willowbrook
- I-55, travelling north
- Exit 274 North, Kingery Highway
- Approx. 1km to first intersection
- Turn right at lights and first right again onto Service Road
- Holiday Inn is on left as one drives along the service road
- Budgetel is around the corner on the right
- A map is available
here.
