Parton physics is related to correlations of quarks and gluons on the light cone and was thought impossible to calculate on a Euclidean lattice, except for the lowest few moments of the simple parton distributions. Recently a novel approach has been proposed in which the matrix elements of frame-dependent, equal-time correlators in large momentum can be used to extract parton physics. When successfully implemented, all parton physics, including generalized parton distributions and transverse-momentum-dependent distributions can be calculated in lattice QCD.
