Electron Electric Dipole Moment (EDM) Search and Polarizability Measurement using a Laser-Cooled Cesium-Atom Fountain
Physics Division Seminar - 27 Sep 2004

The Standard Model (SM) CP-violation in the lepton sector is too small to presently observe, but SM extensions predict new sources of lepton sector CP violation for which the electron EDM experiment is the most sensitive test. We are developing a cesium-atom-fountain EDM experiment incorporating many new features for boosting signal and suppressing systematic effects. Along the way we have used the fountain to make the most precise measurement of the static dipole polarizability of an alkali.
