Loop Quantum Gravity
The basic assumptions, principles and results of loop quantum gravity are
presented. Recent progress is then described in applications to three
areas: 1) black hole entropy, 2) early universe cosmology and 3) Planck scale
phenomenology. In cosmology results are reviewed which suggest that there may be
observable corrections to CMB spectra from quantum gravity effects in the very
early universe. There is also the possibility of tests of modifications of
energy-momentum relations due to quantum gravity effects, coming from
observations of gamma ray bursts and high energy cosmic rays. Recent progress
deriving predictions for these tests will be described.
