Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) is accepted as the theory of the strong interaction, but it leaves many unanswered questions.  Recent examples are the mysteries of the pion structure function, the proton spin, and the flavor structure of the quark sea.  In addition to probing the pion and proton at the quark level, complementary studies of the elastic form factors of the pion and proton were performed.  The well-known electromagnetic probe has been exploited to study the simplest hadronic systems that are particularly amenable to QCD-based calculations.  Examples of results from FNAL, Jefferson Lab and the HERMES experiment at DESY will be presented along with future plans.  If time permits, Argonnes search for color transparency as well as pentaquarks will be discussed briefly.
