How to Copy MSU Format Data Tapes
The files on the data tapes look just like disk files.
- To copy data tapes, just use the standard VMS COPY command. Mount input and output tapes. There is no need for the /foreign qualifier. An example using MKA400: for the original tape and MKA501: for the copy:
- INIT MKA501: JUNK
- MOUNT/OVER=IDENT MKA400:
- MOUNT/OVER=IDENT MKA501:
- COPY MKA400:[000000]*.* MKA501:[000000]*.*
- DISMOUNT/UNLO MKA400:
- put on a new input tape, leave the output tape alone if you want to squeeze multiple input tapes on a single output tape. If not, then dismount the output tape, init and mount a new one.
- repeat as needed
