Which detectors, side channels, etc

Before you start skimming there are a number of Files that should be generated containing the following information:

GE.DISABLED
GE.REVERSED_SIDE
GE.SIDE

The first one gives a list of detectors that should be treated as if they were not in the array. The second one lists any detectors that have their side channels reversed. The last file gives a list of detectors that have working side channels and should have their energies corrected back to the 'center' of the detector before written to the skimed tapes.

Create the et matrices

Before you start skimming, 2D gates for the times should be produced. That is done in the following way:

create a skim.par file that looks something like this:

0             <---- specifies do not write to any output tape
1             <---- specifies writing et matrices out

Type gs_skim_b without arguments to see what the other input parameters are.

Now sort the data from one or two tapes like this
```
  gs_skim_b -par skim.par -input /dev/nrst8 -output /dev/nrst9
```
You may need other switches on if your sort is not standard. Type gs_skim_b without arguments to see what switches are available.

Analyse the et matrices

After the sort you will have a number of files labeled

     etnnn.mat

where nnn are the detector numbers. Process those matrices with the 'gs_tlim' program. This program will generate...
