BGO setup
This is a terse description of how to energy calibrate the
BGO array:
-
It is assumed that you are in the U19:[bgo.daq1] or equivalent
directyory.
-
SET DEF [.bgo_cal]
- CHANGE_SETUP: Change the default data file to a
specified data file. This allows various utilities
tp know what the current save file is.
- Change electronics so the BGO detectors can
trigger events ( i.e., simulate
the RF)
-
put in 88-Y source
-
ACQ (in the ROUTER/DAPHE window)[acq is actually acq/msu]
-
DEHEX1 or DEHEX2: Display first or last 25 BGO
energy spectra.
- wait for enough statistics
- type 'end' in the FE window so the MSU data acquisition
is not running when you do the calibration. (we cannot get
to the fera pedestals when the acquisition is running)
-
@AUTO_CAL. Input file e.g. "y88wide_nodisplay.input". The command
file fits the two peaks and finds the energy calibration for each
BGO element. The procedure lists the results on the screen and in
a data file (GAUFIT.OUT). The command file will ask whether you
want to use the HV_RESET and FERA_RESSET programs from inside the
command file (you normally do!). If you say yes, you should not
execute the next two entries...
-
HV_RESET. Set the voltages for energy lignup based on
the output file D2.DHV from the previous step. The
extension DHV means a relative change file and an
extension of HV means absolute voltage setting.
-
FERA_RESET. Set the pedestal in the FERA. Input file:
e.g. D.DEPED (D.EPED, and for time: D.DTPED,D.TPED)
following the same rule as above for relative and
absolute settings.
-
BGO_SETUP. To save all "numbers" associated with the
Camac crate including the HV settings and and FERA
settings that were adjusted. First specify the old file
name, then type SAVE.
