This presentation is divided in two parts. The first part deals with the study of the electromagnetic structure of A=2 and 3 nuclei in chiral effective field theory χEFT). Predictions for static properties and form factors of the deuteron and trinucleons (3He and 3H), by using two- and three-nucleon potentials, and charge and current operators derived in χEFT, are presented. The second part consists in constructing a minimally nonlocal χEFT nucleon-nucleon (NN) potential up to next-to-next-to-next leading order (N3LO) in the chiral expansion, including nucleon and Δ-isobar degrees of freedom. Three versions of the this chiral potential up to N3LO, corresponding to three different cutoffs, have been developed with good fits to np and pp data up to ELAB ≤ 300 MeV.
