The idea that the recently discovered X(3872) is a shallow molecular bound state of D0* anti-D0 and anti-D0* D0 mesons is extremely attractive and has motivated numerous calculations of X(3872) properties using effective-range theory. Going beyond this approximation requires including effects from dynamical pion exchange. This can be achieved through the use of effective field theory techniques. In this talk I will present X-EFT, the effective field theory which describes the dynamics of the X(3872), and use it to calculate various decays of the X(3872) into pions and P-wave charmonium states.
