The quark "faces" of matter.

The phase diagram of quantum chromodynamics can provide an impressive picture of our "world" and its evolution, from the hadrons in nuclear matter to the quarks of compact star cores or hot quark-gluon plasma. I will describe the fundamental regions of the phase diagram and "draw" some new aspects arising from my research activity, regarding the pion condensation phenomenology, the "quarkyonic-like" matter, and the cold dense matter.
