GAMMASPHERE information, reference details

When this calibration procedure was developed we thought that the best thing to do was to have perfect reference spectra to compare the germaniums agains at later time. We thought that when we dumped the germanium spectra shortly after a perfect source calibration (an after a possible doppler correction) we would have perfect spectra. However, we have seen that a few detectors seems to change gain once the beam is on target. We speculate that this is due to the higher rate when the beam is on. Typically we see 2-3 detectors act like this, the rest seems to be ok.
