Strategy and Science Goals for NASA's Mars Sample Return Mission

NASA, in cooperation with CNES (French space agency) and IAS (Italian space agency) has an ambitious program of robotic Mars exploration missions planned over the next decade, culminating in the first planned sample returned to Earth in 2008. Prof. Jim Bell of the Cornell University Astronomy Department is a team member of the NASA Mars Surveyor 2001 lander/rover and 2003 Mars sample return mission teams, and in this talk he will describe the scientific goals, instrumentation, and mission plans for these and other future planned Mars missions.
