Perspectives on Nuclear Physics over the Past 100 Years
Physics Division Colloquium - 21 September 2007

This colloquium is based on a talk presented at a symposium in Tokyo in June, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Yukawa's birth. The talk will be partly historical, discussing the origins of nuclear physics, leading up to the period in the 1930s when Yukawa did his work. Since other speakers at the symposium focused on Yukawa's life, this will not be covered in this talk except for one episode. An overall personal perspective of where we are today in the field of nuclear physics, will conclude the talk.
