Twenty Questions at the Large Hadron Collider
Physics Division Colloquium - 18 April 2008

Dramatic new phenomena may appear in experiments at the Large Hadron Collider, possibly as soon as next year. Given a discovery, particle physicists will face the challenge of mapping back to the large "theory-space" of models arising from supersymmetry, extra dimensions, and other well-motivated frameworks. This requires the design of a series of practical tests to navigate through the theory space to the correct explanation. This colloquium will demonstrate how this may work for the case of a discovery based on missing energy.
