Per aspera ad astra' - Nuclear astrophysics with radioactive beams
Radioactive nuclei play an important role in many astrophysical phenomena,
including the early universe, the sun, nova explosions, X-ray bursts and
supernovae. Experiments with beams of short-lived radioactive nuclei can, for
the first time, probe the nuclear reactions occurring in these cosmic
environments. I will discuss the difficulties encountered in these studies,
describe some recent experiments and their impact on astrophysical observations.
