How to Copy MSU Format Data Tapes

The files on the data tapes look just like disk files.

To copy data tapes, just use the standard VMS COPY command. Mount input and output tapes. There is no need for the /foreign qualifier. An example using MKA400: for the original tape and MKA501: for the copy:
- INIT MKA501: JUNK
- MOUNT/OVER=IDENT MKA400:
- MOUNT/OVER=IDENT MKA501:
- COPY MKA400:[000000]*.* MKA501:[000000]*.*
- DISMOUNT/UNLO MKA400:
- put on a new input tape, leave the output tape alone if you want to squeeze multiple input tapes on a single output tape. If not, then dismount the output tape, init and mount a new one.
- repeat as needed
