Policy for All Foreign National Visitors and Assignees

September 2008

DOE policy requires a clearance process for all foreign nationals visiting or working at national laboratories.   For foreign nationals from certain designated countries this clearance process currently takes up to 10 weeks. The Laboratory must obtain approval from the DOE before the foreign national can be permitted on the Laboratory site. Please note that this process is independent of any visa action.

Because of this DOE policy, all non-US citizens coming to the ATLAS facility must contact Barbara Weller so that the appropriate approvals may be obtained.  This is especially important for collaborators on ATLAS experiments from the designated countries listed below.   We urge all non-US citizens planning to visit or participate in experiments at the ATLAS Facility to contact Barb Weller weller@anlphy.phy.anl.gov at least 10 weeks in advance of their arrival to initiate the clearance process or verify that their clearances are current and in place.
