Overview

The 18th International Workshop on ECR Ion Sources will be held in Chicago, Illinois USA from September 15-18, 2008. The workshop will be hosted by Argonne National Laboratory and will be held near downtown Chicago at the Chicago History Museum.

The workshop will focus on the latest developments in performance, modeling and applications of ECR ion sources and the associated physics and technology of those sources including plasma physics, beam optics and magnet technology.

Workshop Agenda

The workshop agenda will run four days (9/15-18/2008) with a Welcome Reception Sunday evening (9/14/08). The workshop topics will be driven by the participants but are expected to cover:

  • ECR Ion Sources - normal, superconducting, and next generation

  • Charge Breeders

  • Radioactive Ion Beams

  • Applications and Diagnostics

  • Beam Extraction and Transport

  • Source Plasma Studies and Models

  • New Development

  • New Sources

A tour of the ECR sources used at the ATLAS facility is planned along with a workshop excursion and banquet. More information can be found under the Events link.

Workshop Venue

The workshop will be held at the Chicago History Museum near downtown Chicago. The museum overlooks one of the citys largest parks adjacent to Lake Michigan and is close to interesting shopping, site-seeing and dining options.
