ECRIS 2010
Grenoble, France
The results of the vote by the International
Advisory Committee for the ECR Workshop series concerning the siting
for the next ECR Workshop are now in.
As you recall, two groups, one from Sidney and the other from
Grenoble, proposed to host the next ECRIS Workshop and provided
additional information concerning the proposed bids for the next
Workshop which was posted since mid-October on the ECRIS08 website.
The community was invited to respond to us here at ANL with any
comments. A total of 10 persons responded with comments or preferences
during the open period ending in mid-November.
Those comments were forwarded to the International Advisory Committee
and the committee members were each asked to respond to me with their
vote preference for the next Workshop site.
The votes of the International Advisory Committee have now been
tallied and the results are a preference for the Grenoble site by a
vote of 7 to 4. I note the committee vote is similar to the
preferences expressed by the few responses received from the general
community.
Thus I am pleased to declare that the Grenoble bid, led by Thomas
Thuillier, is the winning bid. My condolences to the Australian group
led by David Button and Michael Hotchkis. I hope someday soon we may
have the chance to visit the Australian lab as well.
Sincerely,
Richard Pardo
